Fremont is a small community located in Mahaska County, Iowa, United States, with a population of about 743 as of the 2010 census. It is situated in south-central Iowa, off of Highway 63. The community was established in the late 1800s and named after the western explorer, John C. Fremont.
Fremont is noted for its agricultural production, including corn, soybeans, and livestock. It is also home to the Fremont Community School District, which serves the surrounding area and has a K-12 enrollment of around 340 students. Other notable landmarks include the Fremont United Methodist Church, the Fremont City Park, and the Prairie Knoll Conservation Area.
Additionally, Fremont is located just a short drive away from several larger cities, including Oskaloosa, Pella, and Ottumwa, providing residents with a variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
